Selling diamonds can be an emotional experience. Maybe you’re going through a divorce. Maybe the diamond is a family heirloom.
In situations like these, it helps to work with a diamond buyer you can trust, and Doylestown Gold Exchange prides itself on offering a no-pressure environment for people looking to buy and sell diamonds.
With the help of our graduate gemologist, we will do our best to make sure you get the best price for your diamonds.
Selling a diamond isn’t the same as selling a precious metal such as silver and gold. When you sell a metal, we would weight it, look at the current market price and then buy based on that price.
When pricing diamonds, we look at the “four Cs” of the stone:
- Color – A diamond with no color is considered the highest quality, whereas stones labeled “brown” or “yellow” are of a lesser standard.
- Carat – The weight of the diamond.
- Clarity – The presence or absence of inclusions – or flaws – in the diamond.
- Cut – How the diamond is crafted, how it reflects light, its proportions and symmetry.
Diamonds are tricky: their appraisal value is often much higher than what the market might be offering. That’s why we take the time to explain how we’ve arrived at our offer.
Think of a diamond like your car: After you’ve driven it off the lot, its value can decrease from the purchase price.
While we sell custom engagement rings, we still see maybe two or three customers a day looking to sell their diamonds. They come from all over: Bucks and Montgomery county, from the Lehigh Valley, New Jersey, even as far away as Pittsburgh.
No matter where they hail from, we value our reputation for being fair and honest when buying diamonds.
