They also share the same durability, beauty, and brilliance. However, they’re friendlier on the environment and often more cost-effective than earth-mined alternatives.

Natural & lab-grown diamonds FAQ

Diamond RingWhat is the difference between natural and lab-grown diamonds?

Natural diamonds are rare earth-mined stones, and lab-grown diamonds are made in a laboratory. Both diamonds are authentic, sharing the same properties and characteristics. Lab-grown diamonds are surging in popularity because of their exceptionally high quality and cost-effectiveness. They are also gentler on the environment, giving them an earth-friendly edge.

Can you distinguish the difference between a natural and lab-grown diamond?

It’s difficult to tell the difference between the two types of diamonds. Even a jeweler using a 10x loupe “diamond tester” and traditional gemological observation and technique cannot tell them apart! Only a laboratory-trained gemologist with highly specialized equipment can reliably identify natural from lab-grown diamonds.

Can I afford to buy diamonds?

The price of a diamond depends on several factors, including the stone’s color, clarity, cut, and carat weight. We are highly skilled in determining the most cost-effective way to maximize your budget, including considering lab-grown diamonds over natural ones to help you get a larger stone for a comparable price. In addition, our affordable wholesale pricing will help your dollar go even further.

What is the process for designing my own custom diamond jewelry?

When designing a custom engagement ring or other diamond jewelry, we walk you through every step of the process, starting with diamond selection. After selecting your stone, we proceed to the concept phase, where we help you consider the cut, mounting, and other stylistic elements. Next, we create a digital 3D CAD drawing and wax replica for your review and approval. The final steps are to cast the jewelry and set and finish it according to your personal style.

What is the advantage of having a Graduate Gemologist on staff?

When buying diamonds or any other jewelry, a Graduate Gemologist gives you peace of mind that what you’re buying is authentic and valued fairly. As the highest certification level that a jeweler can have, Graduate Gemologists bring an elevated level of expertise to selling and buying diamonds and performing jewelry appraisals.
